I’ve been back in Atlanta for a few days, and I’m still looking for that contact that will help me find a way into the world of film. But in the mean time I’ve been trying to be more active. Only staying on my computer for job hunts and keeping up with my social media addiction. I’ve walked about 8 miles the past two days and I’ve been doing crunches and push ups and some other random exercises. It’s been beautiful up here! Plus I’ve been staying in Sandy Springs with a friend and we’re pretty close to the Chattahoochee River, so it’s a great place to go walk around.
Here’s a short I got to do a little work on, not sure home much of my production audio made to the film (I never got the dailies, wasn’t involved in post…and then wasn’t available for re-shoots! geesh.) but it’s a cute one so everyone should take a few minutes to watch it!

I’ve been in the depths of a job hunt for almost a year now. I graduated last August but I’ve been searching since last May.
It’s definitely the most frustrating thing I’ve ever done.
The thing is that I have so much to offer. Everyone I have ever worked with both on student film sets and at any part time job I’ve had has said they’ve enjoyed working with me. I like to think I had a good reputation at school, but now that I’m out in the real world it doesn’t matter at all.
It’s all about who you know. I’ve know that for years! And I thought I’d been making connections to help me once I got out of school but nothing seems to be good enough.
I got a call about a month ago from a classmate of mine to ask me if I was available to work on a film. I said “YES! Thank GOD!” I thought I’d finally found something!! Well then life happened and the shoot was cancelled… TWO days before it was supposed to start. I was all packed and ready to live in Atlanta for a month, and quit my job in Savannah. So now I’m in Atlanta… jobless. Hoping something comes in the next few days. If not I guess I’ll just pack my stuff back up and go back to Savannah and go back to my job and explain what happened to everyone…. something I REALLY don’t want to do, especially since no one has been doing my job the past week so everything has piled up and it’s just…. embarrassing. I’m taking a bunch of steps so that won’t happen.
So if anyone on there knows of anything… feel free to call me. 😉
Here’s a trailer for a short I worked on as a production sound mixer:

How many times has someone said that in reference to blogging? Well I’m that girl. Trying a new blog. Maybe I’ll keep up with it this time? I doubt it. Gotta be realistic here!
But nonetheless I will try! So this is my first post here on this very nifty wordpress. This is so much better than blogspot that I’ve spent the last half hour just lookin’ around.
Should I introduce myself? Okay.
Name: Kathleen Elizabeth Kerkhoff… I know it’s a mouthful, right? I went by Katie growing and so therefore many people call me Katie, but lots call me Kathleen too. I tend to answer to just about anything that resembles either of those.
Age: 23…though most think I’m much younger.
Location: Atlanta, GA… as of May 4th.
Things you should know about me:
– I’m obsessed with nail polish.
– My cat is the best. (he’s kind of nutso too)
– I’m not sarcastic at aaaalllllllllllll.
– I like taking care of people.
– I like camping. I may not look like it, but I do.
– I was born in OHIO (go bucks!) but I grew up in Savannah, GA.
– Relay For Life is awesome. Cancer is not.
– I fall a lot, trip constantly, and drop everything. You’ll get a good laugh out of that at least once.
– I love the movies (hence my career choice).
– I read… a lot. No, really. I read A LOT. I’ve read 45 books so far this year.
– I like to dance but I’m not particularly good at it. Don’t judge.
– I have a degree in Sound Design and I’m hoping to find a job doing free lance production sound.
– Single and ready to mingle. Oh I shouldn’t have said that.
– I like TV. No shame.
Ok that’s all for now. I need some sleep.
